You won’t believe the difference your choice of venue makes in creating a truly memorable corporate event

Things to think about when planning a corporate event and choosing a venue:

1. Talk to your chosen event production team well in advance of the event – even before you book the venue.

2. Ask your production company to accompany you to view your potential venues and get them to check out the venue specifications.

3. Does the venue have the correct type of power supply, what kind of access does it have to bring in all the stage, set and equipment.

4. Does the venue have an air conditioning system installed in that room? Ask to have it switched on to hear how loud it is, as it can interfere with the sound on the night.

5. Can the air conditioning be isolated when the event is running…otherwise all the smoke/haze for the lighting effects will be removed from the room!

6. Once you have chosen the venue the production team will need to take exact measurements so they know the maximum size the set design can be built.

7. Check with the venue when the production team can gain access to build…that the venue is available a day or two before the event…depending on the size of the event.

8. Confirm the pre build days in writing…as venues may try to squeeze in a last minute booking! It has happened to us and made it a very tight build!

This venue, The Big o’ Doon House Hotel in Ayr has a high vaulted ceiling which gave us great creative scope when designing the event. After guests entered the awards ceremony from the top of the hotel’s dramatic, sweeping staircase, they walked down to become immersed in an atmospheric ‘global success’-themed setting.
